Stewart House is a four-storey office building and required full redecoration, replacement of carpets and a lighting upgrade from top to bottom to provide a fresh, clean environment.
• The building was occupied whilst works were carried out, so the project was divided into eight phases. Works were programmed on a 24-hour basis.
• Some works were delivered out-of-hours, such as to the Events Centre and the lift lobbies, to minimise noise and disruption and ensure continued use by staff during the day.
• Emphasis on the environment: old carpet tiles were recycled.
The team was very responsive throughout. They understood the challenges we faced working in a ‘live’ environment and assumed responsibility for much of the day-to-day management of the project, from the scheduling through to workforce inductions. Up to a third of all of the work required had to be completed outside of normal office hours and they have been very supportive throughout.
