Before any work could begin, the scope was agreed between the loss adjusters and the contract administrator. Once appointed, our team carried out a full strip out and coordinated specialist drying of the affected areas, preparing the building for reinstatement.
Internally, the works included replastering, new safety vinyl flooring throughout, and new FD30 fire doors with vision panels and finger guards. We also fully refurbished the children’s WC, with new cubicles, an infant-height wash trough and hygienic wall cladding and a completed Doc M upgrade for the accessible WC.
Externally, the EPDM soft play surface was replaced like for like and the external areas were redecorated.
The hall sat separately within the school playground, which allowed our team to use a dedicated entrance directly into the work area. When the school reopened for the final three weeks, the site was fully sectioned off with barriers and signage. We stayed in close contact with the head teacher throughout and scheduled noisy works around the school day. We even switched off the diesel-powered site welfare during lunchtimes while pupils were playing outside. Children continued to use the rest of the playground safely while we brought the project to a successful completion.
The team at Gunning London were very pragmatic in their approach when it came to the processing of waste materials and were able to reclaim, recycle or re-use 95% of the materials used.
